Quick Hair Growth Treatments? Mane and Tail, Hair oils and massages...

Mane and Tail review

For years now I have been fighting a constant battle with thin, slow-growing hair. When I was revising for my GCSE's, my hair began falling out in large chunks because of the stress of exams and issues in my personal life. My hair literally shrunk to half it's original thickness and it's been a struggle to get it looking healthy and long again. However, searching through various forums for healthy hair treatments, one brand name kept popping up with fantastic reviews. Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioners have been raved about all throughout beauty blogs, vlogs and everything in between. I decided I needed to see for myself whether it really was the 'miracle treatment' everyone has proclaimed it is.

First off, I don't believe in 'miracle treatments'. As much as I wish they were real, there is no product that makes your hair look more voluminous and grow three inches over night. I have tried just about everything and the truth is, my hair grows slower than the average rate. However, I have found a few tips that help hair look healthier and grow just that little bit quicker if you use them regularly.

I have been using Mane and Tail products for about five months now and I can say that I HAVE noticed a difference. If not anything else, I have received multiple compliments on how healthy, shiny and thick my hair is looking recently. However, I have noticed that many people aren't comfortable using a shampoo/conditioner treatment marketed for horses, but I can say now that if it didn't specifically have the picture of horses on the front of the bottle, I would have no idea it wasn't made as a hair growth treatment for humans. It ticks all the right boxes: great smelling, good value and actually makes a visual difference to your hair.

I have also noticed a change in length. My hair HAS grown while using this shampoo/conditioner combo and I am becoming much more happy with the length of it now. However, for you hair to grow as well, it is so important that you stick with the combo and don't get disheartened too quickly!

(As you can see, the thickness of my hair has been the problem to sort out first...)

I chose to exclusively use both the shampoo and conditioner because why half your chances of having longer, thicker hair by only using the shampoo when you could use both? Mane and Tail have bought out the conditioner, so why not use it too? I only use Mane and Tail products when washing my hair now because I believe that perseverance is key when trying to grow hair. I don't want to take any chances of messing up whatever the little magic molecules in the shampoo/conditioner are doing by adding in other products that are alien to Mane and Tail's ingredients. This may seem a bit crazy, but I have spent hours researching how to get longer hair and years trying to actually grow it so I'll be damned if anything so small ruins my results now.

I tend to go through the shampoo bottle much more quickly than I do with the conditioner bottle. This is because I prefer to shampoo my hair twice when in the shower and condition my hair only once. My hair is prone to getting oily quite quickly, which is why I don't like putting a lot of conditioner in my hair. However, both the shampoo and conditioner smell great and leave my hair feeling very soft and smooth!

As Mane and Tail are predominately based in the USA, I buy the bottles off of eBay. They are great value for money as I can usually get both the shampoo and conditioner for £8 combined. Overall, I would give this shampoo/conditioner combo an 8 out of 10!

Hair oils and head massages

Hair oils is something I've gotten into very recently. As I said earlier, my hair is prone to get oily quite quickly and leaving oil to sink in to my scalp seemed a bit like self-sabotage to me. However, I have been using coconut oil recently and I am loving the after effects of letting it sink into my hair for a few hours! I apply the oil all over my head, from my roots to the ends of my hair and wrap my head in cling film (it's a great look, honestly...) I then usually have a nap with my head still wrapped or watch TV. Basically, I do anything that doesn't involve me going outside in public! After a few hours, I'll unwrap the cling film and thoroughly wash through my hair. I cannot even describe how silky and soft my hair feels after the wrap. It's incredible. I can't stop touching it and I can tell it does wonders for my hair's health. I think the coconut oil has added to the quicker hair growth I have been noticing recently.

I also had a head massage a few months ago. I went to a spa for a bit of a pamper day just before a wedding to have my back sorted out with a massage as I get quite bad back pains sometimes. However, the lady doing the massage was so lovely and funny she checked everywhere else and was so shocked when she felt my head. She said my scalp was unbelievably tight (I didn't even know a scalp could get tight?) and she very quickly gave me a head massage too. I could actually feel the difference on my head afterwards and I definitely think this helped to awaken the cells in my scalp and get blood circulating through to get my hair to grow a little quicker! I am planning a visit back soon to have a second massage.

Overall, I don't think there is a miracle way to get long hair overnight (without the help of extensions!) but there are little tricks you can try to stimulate growth more quickly. It's all about trial and error and seeing what works for you.

Does anybody else have stories like this? What has made your hair grow faster or look more healthy?
