I came across Too Faced Bulletproof Brows on another beauty blog and what really enticed me into buying the product for a try-out was their promotion that it will give your eyebrows a defined, thickened boost while still looking au-natural all day long! This was a huge plus for me due to the fact that the more I grow up, the more I want my makeup to look pretty, natural and sleek instead of the 'in your face' bright coloured, heavy makeup look that seems to be a righteous path into becoming a teenager these days.
The name 'Bulletproof Brows' come from Too Faced's description that in just 60 seconds, the colour from the product locks down a 24-hour 'waterproof, smudge-proof and budge-proof' bulletproof brows. I completely agree with this as I have found that the product will stay in tact and doesn't wear off even if you go out for a full day's trip outside and are still wearing the same first-time application into the night - a huge plus for anyone who doesn't like to carry makeup around with them!
The Bulletproof Brows have just two separate shades to choose from - Universal Taupe and Universal Brunette. This lack of choice worried me at first as I was convinced that I would once again fork out my hard earned cash on makeup that wouldn't suit my natural colours (very fair skin with very dark hair). However, I was so desperate for a solution that I went ahead and bought the brow kit anyway - and boy, am I glad now that I did!
The shade Universal Brunette suits my natural skin tone and hair colour perfectly - which really helps to ring true the somewhat risky 'universal' promise that the brow kit makes.
The Bulletproof Brows kit includes a little double ended applicator brush that has on one end an eyebrow comb (spooler brush) that I like to use to comb the hairs into the shape I want them to stay and at the other end of the stick is a soft, angled applicator which is designed to help you to apply the 4-in-1 powder, gel, pencil and setting wax evenly and precisely onto your eyebrow. I think this applicator stick is extremely helpful and I use it every time I apply the Bulletproof Brows (which is most days).
This is how I like to apply the wax. I think it helps to give my eyebrows a more precise cover and I am able to keep in control at all times what bits I am making darker than others.
I can really see the difference in my brows after using Too Faced's Bulletproof brows. My eyebrows look naturally darker, thicker and my face looks more defined. The only thing I could say that may be seen as a downside to this product is that you have to keep cleaning the brush end of the applicator as the wax sets on the applicator after use and then the brush can start flaking off pieces of dried wax. However, if you are like myself and happy to clean a brush every few times you use it to maintain the quality of the product, than this is really not a huge issue.
The little pot has lasted me four months and I have hardly scraped the top of the wax. You really don't need a lot on your brush to create the perfect eyebrows with this product. Actually, the phrase 'a little goes a long way' comes to mind when thinking about the Bulletproof Brows.
All in all, I would give this product a 4 out of 5. I think that the wax dries out a little too quickly and that can be an issue when you tend not to go through makeup so quickly. However, I am extremely happy with the natural yet enhanced look you receive when using the product, I love the style of the little pot and how easy it is to apply the wax after you have gotten used to how much you need on the brush. Overall, I am very pleased with Too Faced Bulletproof Brows and will be purchasing again went it runs out!
Has anyone else used the Bulletproof Brows? Do you have any other tips for natural eyebrow enhancing?
